Professor Dr. Farida Adib Khanum, MBBS, M.Phil, WHO Fellow.

Professor Dr. Farida Adib Khanum, MBBS, M.Phil, WHO Fellow.

Farida Adib Khanum was born on 2nd January, 1949 in Dhaka. Her home district is Natore. She obtained her MBBS degree from Rajshahi Medical College under the University of Rajshahi in 1973. She did her post graduate course in IPGM&R, Dhaka and got M. Phil(in Physiology) degree from University of Dhaka in 1981. She went to Bankok, Thailand in 1985 for higher training in the field of reproductive physiology for 1 year. During her profession she joined as in-service training in 1973. After 1 year she was appointed as Assistant Surgeon in Rajshahi Medical College. She was posted as lecturer of physiology in Rajshahi Medical College and Rangpur Medical College from 1974 to 1979. In 1979, she was deputed to IPGM&R for higher study. She was promoted as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in 1981 and 1985 respectively. She joined in Barisal Medical College as Professor of Physiology in 1992. She was appointed as Principal, Comilla Medical College in 1997 and Sir Salimullah Medical College in 2000. In 2001, she made Joint Secretary, Govt. of Bangladesh and joined as Director General, Prime-Minister's Office. She also posted as joint Secretary, Ministry of Education. She retired from Govt. Service on 1st January, 2006. On July 29, 2009 she joined as Member, Bangladesh Public Service Commission. She got married with Engr. Md. Atikul Islam and they have two daughters and two sons.
